Instructions

For optimal use of your FRONTS™ on the flats, in the lift lines and on the lifts, there are 3 things to keep in mind:

Body Stance

When moving across the flats in the forward position, sharply bend your front leg underneath your body, put your body weight over your front leg and take quick and short steps with the back foot.

Slope Inclines

Many flat areas are actually false flats - meaning they have a slight incline to them. Seek out the optimal traverse terrain where the area is perfectly flat or the highest part of the slope incline is on your heelside, and NOT your toeside.

  • For regular foot riders, this means that the slope is higher on the left side of your body than the right side.

  • For goofy footers, this is the opposite. Try to find flat stretches that are higher on the right side and that slope down to the left.

  • In these kinds of optimal sloping terrain and flat areas, opt for an angle of 80° up front.


Where the slope of the hill is falling away from you (toeside), opt for a reduced front-foot angle that will give you more edge control (between 30° and 60°). You can then push from behind the board, or in front - whatever works best.

Optimal front-foot position

Never move across the flats with your foot in a perfectly straightforward position -- never 90°! Do not attempt to snowboard without locking your front foot.

For t-bars and steep traverses

Consider reducing your front-foot angle to the 30° to 60° range in order to maintain maximum edge control.

For chairlift dismount ramps

Take caution, as these ramps can be steep. As for any steep angle terrain, make sure you draw back and lock in your front foot for the dismount in order to optimize edge control.

While sitting on the chairlift, hook your back foot around the heel side of the board and push forward with this foot. Then rotate your front foot towards the ride position. You will feel FRONTS™ click into "ride-lock" mode.

Once you are comfortable with the locking device, this can also be done right on the initial flat area of the dismount ramp just prior to getting off the lift.
